To prepare the foundation for a long lasting remodel, we insulated the entire basement with closed cell spray foam. This material is ideal for basements because it helps control moisture, increases energy efficiency, and creates a tight seal that supports better air quality. We also used metal framing instead of wood. Metal is often the smarter choice in lower level projects since it is more resistant to moisture, stays straight over time, and helps prevent long term issues in spaces that naturally have higher humidity.

The new layout includes a gym zone, an entertainment area with a projector, and a redesigned laundry space. We installed LVP flooring for durability and comfort, and the homeowners chose a drop ceiling for easy access during future maintenance. The project required a full update of mechanical systems including electrical, lighting, and HVAC. In the middle of the remodel, the existing forty year old heating system failed inspection. To meet town requirements and ensure safety, we replaced it with a brand new on demand system that also improves the home’s overall efficiency.

We corrected old DIY plumbing, improved lighting throughout the space, and created a cleaner, brighter flow that feels nothing like a typical basement. The transformation gives the Speroni family more room to work out, relax, watch movies, and manage laundry in a space that finally works for them.
