Lindsey’s Bathroom Addition

Oxford, MA

What started as a plan for a relaxing retreat quickly became something much more meaningful. This space was originally a bedroom inside the home, but the family needed a bathroom that brought comfort during a difficult season, while still keeping the peaceful, spa-like feel they dreamed of from the beginning. We reworked the interior walls to create a 10-by-9 bathroom and added a closet directly off the homeowner’s bedroom, giving them privacy and ease of access.

The goal was to design a bathroom that balanced accessibility with beauty. We added a chair-height toilet and created a layout that allowed comfortable movement and easy access to all fixtures. The tub was a must for the family, so we kept the air-and-water jet tub at the center of the experience. To elevate storage, we built a custom niche with LED lighting for towels, two linen closets with glass doors, and a hidden bedroom closet disguised as a Murphy-door with integrated shelving and more LEDs. Everything was designed to feel intentional, calming, and functional.

The “green vibe” came to life through the client’s tile and paint selections, which paired perfectly with a vessel sink bowl that added a modern touch. A spacious shower with a hand shower, warm lighting, and generous natural light made the room feel open and bright. Even though the project required reworking walls and creating new spaces, the construction itself was smooth and straightforward.

This bathroom now serves as a place of comfort, relaxation, and peace during a hard time for the family. It’s a reminder that a home can adapt with compassion while still being beautiful.
